Create a swatch from the Color Guide panel Choose colors from the Harmony Rules menu in the Color Guide panel. To edit an existing pattern, double-click the pattern in the pattern swatch, or select an object containing the pattern and choose Object > Pattern > Edit Pattern. When creating a pattern, you work in Pattern Editing mode. Click the Save Color Group To Swatch Panel button at the bottom of the Color Guide panel.
Select artwork to be used for the pattern and choose Object > Pattern > Make. To create a pattern, select the artwork that you would like to create the pattern from, and then choose Object > Pattern > Make. Select all, and drag it over to the Swatches Panel. Now that you’re worked so hard on your pattern, you’ll want to save it for future use. In Pattern Editing mode, the Pattern Options panel opens. If you want your pattern to appear bigger or smaller within a shape, then play with the size of your original pattern, and make it a new swatch again, by dragging it into the Swatches Panel. Add colors from artwork to the Swatches panel Congratulations – you’ve just created a pattern swatch! Give it a name, and save it in the Swatches Folder in format. You see a preview of the repeating pattern in the document window, and the pattern is saved as a pattern swatch in the Swatches panel. Now, locate it in the Panel, click on it, and go to Swatches Library Menu > Save Swatches.
